La Dispute touring to play "Wildlife" in its entirety were one of the reasons I wanted to attend FEST. I was hoping to see them in D.C. at the Union Stage but that show sold out and this was my next shot. I couldn't have been happier with the end result. First of all, you see Sunny (Hate5Six) in front of me with the red headband. I had a chance to chat with him earlier during the day and talked shop. I had a lot of questions and he was kind enough to chat. There's a reason why he's the G.O.A.T. and meeting him was awesome. Second, who ever set up the speaker array for this whole weekend rocks...there were speakers hanging to cover both sides of the stage and there were a bunch at ground level in front of the stage. Complete coverage sound-wise was the goal and I was glad to have gotten great sound because of this! My goal in shooting the band was to track Jordan Dreyer as he moved throughout the stage. With this in mind, I was bound to cover the rest of the band video-wise. And my goal was easily accomplished. Equipment at the time of recording was my iPhone 13 Pro in a Smallrig video cage with a Shure MV88+ attached to one of the cold shoe mounts. I recorded with MoviePro and set my Gain/Volume to reasonably low levels in order to capture clean sound. If you look at the far left of the stage, you can see Beau Beau (Avail) and Pat Thetic (hahaha...Anti-Flag) watching the set.
