Alex Rodriguez, former professional baseball player for the New York Yankees, will speak at the University of Florida on November 15th, at an event hosted by ACCENT Speakers Bureau.
Ted Spiker, chair of the Department of Journalism at the University of Florida and a professor of Sports Media & Society, will moderate the discussion.
Rodriguez is a highly acclaimed baseball player with a 20-year career that includes 14 All-Star appearances and three American League MVP Awards. In 2009, Rodriguez won a World Championship as a player for the New York Yankees. Since his retirement, Rodriguez has shared his knowledge of baseball with audiences across the country as a color commentator for FOX Sports. He received critical praise for his sports commentary throughout the 2015 and 2016 playoffs and World Series.
Perhaps less widely known, Rodriguez also serves as the Founder and CEO of A-ROD Corp, a private holding company with businesses in the U.S. and Latin America. In this position, Rodriguez has turned A-ROD Corp into a significant investment vehicle that is focused on real estate, high-end fitness centers, and automotive dealerships. He also serves as a senior adviser to Yankees principal owner Hal Steinbrenner.
