"Daisies" is a Czech New Wave film, which was funded and subsequently banned by the Czechoslovakian state. It follows two teenage girls who--seeking to spoil themselves in a world they see as spoiled--channel intense Gemini energy to get rich men to buy them bougie meals. The film portrays an anarchic, high-femme refusal of masculinist control through the characters' rejection and redirection of male power; it also touches on the contempt and violence directed against those non-men who are seen as disrupting male and state power.
