Making your own candles is fun, easy, and much cheaper than buying from a store. Most store-bought candles are made from paraffin wax, a by-product of the petroleum industry. Many candles are also made or cut with tallow, a type of animal fat, and since companies aren’t required to list the ingredients in their candles, it can be hard or impossible to find out if candles are cruelty-free.
