Chelsea Handler, comedian, talk show host, and author, will speak at the University of Florida on April 13th at an event hosted by ACCENT Speakers Bureau in partnership with Jewish Student Union. The event will be moderated by MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff.
Handler’s stand-up comedy, best-selling books and nightly talk show have attracted millions of fans worldwide. As the host of E!’s top-rated “Chelsea Lately,” Handler became the first female to break into the otherwise male-dominated late-night arena. She ended the show in 2014 after a successful eight-year run in order to pursue other interests. Handler has five best-selling books, including “Uganda Be Killing Me”- her fourth to debut at No.1 on the New York Times Bestseller list. In October 2014, a stand-up comedy performance based on the tour “Uganda Be Killing Me Live” premiered exclusively on Netflix.
Handler’s recent projects include “Chelsea Does,” a Netflix Documentary Film Series that was released in January 2016. Currently, she hosts an all-new talk show for Netflix, “Chelsea,” which is the first talk show for Netflix.
Handler has been honored by TIME magazine as one of its annual “TIME 100”; Glamour magazine as one of its 2011 Women of the Year; and the Human Rights Campaign, which gave her its Ally for Equality Award in 2009.
