Florida Gators football head coach Jim McElwain and men’s basketball head coach Mike White will speak at the University Auditorium on April 12, in a special event hosted by ACCENT Speakers Bureau in partnership with the University Athletic Association.
Both McElwain and White completed their first season at the helm of their respective programs following the 2015-16 athletic year.
In just his first season as head coach, McElwain helped restore the order in Gainesville by leading the Gators to the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division title, becoming just the third coach in SEC history to reach the SEC Championship game in his rookie season.
White, who led the Gators to a 21-win season in his initial campaign on the sideline, is one of three active SEC coaches to win 20 or more games in their first year on the job.
The event will be moderated by Ted Spiker, chair of the Journalism Department at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications and a professor of Sports Media and Society.
