Abby Wambach, Gator Great and 2015 Women’s World Cup Champion, will speak at the University of Florida on Nov. 3 at an event hosted by ACCENT Speakers Bureau.
Wambach is currently the number one all-time goal scorer in international soccer history. She is a six-time U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and 2015 World Cup Champion.
In 2012, Wambach was named a “Gator Great” and introduced into the UF Athletic Hall of Fame. During her time at the University of Florida, Wambach was an All-American who led the Gators to a national championship in 2001.
In 2015, Wambach was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine. Currently, Wambach serves as an ambassador for Right to Play and USAID, encouraging the use of sports as a tool for youth development in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world.
The event will be moderated by Ted Spiker, chair of the Journalism Department at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications and a professor of Sports Media and Society.
